Companies routinely believe they own intellectual property that, on examination, they do not. The logo was designed by a freelancer who never assigned the rights. The core code was written by a contractor under a vague agreement. The brand was never registered, the invention never protected. For a modern business whose real value sits in …

About IP Audit

An IP audit begins by identifying the intellectual property a business genuinely depends on, which is often broader than it realises: trademarks and brand assets, copyright in software, content, and creative work, patentable inventions and trade secrets, designs, and the domain names and digital assets that anchor its identity. Our team then asks the question that matters most: does the company actually own each of these, cleanly and provably? Ownership turns on proper assignment from founders, employees, and contractors, and on registration where it is available, and gaps in either are common and costly.

Law Mahaguru’s audit is built around the failure points that most often surface in diligence and disputes. Unassigned work created by contractors and early team members is a recurring problem, because under default rules the creator may retain rights the company assumed it had. Unregistered trademarks leave a brand vulnerable to being claimed by another. Trade secrets without confidentiality protection lose their status the moment they leak. We identify each of these, and we map what is registered, what is registrable, and what is at risk.

The value is twofold: protection and provability. A company that has audited its IP can secure what it has left exposed, register what it has neglected, and, crucially, prove ownership when an investor, an acquirer, or a court asks. We have helped businesses discover that the very assets at the heart of their valuation were not properly owned, in time to fix the chain of title before a transaction tested it.

We conduct IP audits for technology and content businesses, brand-led companies, startups preparing to raise, and organisations whose intangible assets have grown without a clear ownership record. Each receives a clear inventory of their IP, an assessment of ownership and protection, and a plan to close the gaps.

Your intellectual property is only an asset if you can prove it is yours. Law Mahaguru makes sure you can. Tell us what your business creates and relies on, and we will confirm what you own and secure what you do not.
